Renaming Datasets

Cotera provides two convenient ways to rename your datasets, so you can choose the method that fits your workflow best. Both options open the same renaming interface.

Method 1: From the Sidebar

In the left sidebar, locate the dataset you want to rename. Click the three dots menu next to the dataset name and select Rename Dataset.

Select "Rename Dataset" from the dropdown menu

A dialog box will appear where you can type in your new dataset name. Enter the updated name and click Rename to save your changes.

This method is perfect when you're browsing your datasets in the sidebar and want to quickly update a name.

Method 2: Using the Command Palette

Navigate to the dataset you want to rename, then open the Command Palette with Command + K (Mac) or Control + K (Windows). You can either search directly for "Rename Dataset" using the search bar, or navigate to the Dataset menu and select Rename Dataset from there.

The same dialog box will appear, allowing you to enter your new dataset name and confirm the change.

The Command Palette method works well when you're already using keyboard shortcuts and want to stay in that workflow.

Confirmation and Updates

After renaming your dataset, the new name will immediately appear throughout Cotera - in the sidebar, any open tabs, and anywhere else the dataset is referenced.

Choose whichever renaming method feels most natural for your current workflow - both lead to the same result!
